Where is San Pedro de Alcantara?
San Pedro de Alcantara is situated around 10 kilometres east of the famous Costa del Sol resort of Marbella in southern Spain. It takes less than one hour to get there from Malaga Airport and so you could soon be lazing on its sundrenched beach.

There is a huge choice of watersports on offer, including jet-skiing, water-skiing, windsurfing, scuba diving, snorkelling and surfing. You can also hire out a pedallo or take part in a spot of sailing or fishing.
The long promenade along the seafront not only provides the ideal spot for an evening stroll, but also plenty of parking facilities. The town itself offers quiet parks, squares and beautiful gardens, as well as a good range of shops selling clothing, jewellery and the usual souvenirs. The main square, where you will find the parish church, the Town Hall and a beautiful fountain, is a lively area where you can sit at one of a number of cafes and enjoy a coffee or a spot of tapas.
You will find plenty of places to sit and enjoy a relaxing drink or an excellent meal in San Pedro de Alcantara, with a variety of international cuisines on offer. In the evenings, many of the bars provide live entertainment and music, and there is a choice of nightclubs for those who want to party the night away.
For those who are interested in the history of the area, a stroll down towards the beach at Borra Borra will lead you to the Roman ruins known as La Bovedas which, during their heyday, were possibly used as public baths. In addition, the Paleochristian Basilica of Vega del Mar, situated in the woods next to the Bora Bora Beach Club, is also well worth a visit.

San Pedro de Alcantara is an ideal spot from which to explore, whether you fancy a bit of ‘star spotting’ at the exclusive neighbouring resort of Puerto Banus or nearby Marbella, or a trip inland to experience the stunning scenery of the Sierra de Ronda. A day trip to the nearby British colony of Gibraltar is also not to be missed.
