Torremuelle

Where is Torremuelle?

Located just west of the resort of Benalmadena, Torremuelle lies on Spain’s Costa del Sol, approximately 15 kilometres’ from Malaga Airport.

What kind of place is Torremuelle?

Torremuelle is a small village and a quiet residential area which has its own railway station on the line which runs from Malaga city in one direction to Fuengirola in the other.

What is there to do and see in Torremuelle?

If you are looking to stay at a lively resort, heaving with nightlife, then Torremuelle is probably not the place to be. If, however, the idea of being able to stretch out on a quiet beach and relax in the sunshine does appeal, then this is definitely a good choice.

Torremuelle lies on a very pretty, but rocky stretch of coastline which is interrupted by peaceful sandy bays, perfect for a relaxing day of sunbathing and swimming in the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean.

The village offers a small but well-stocked supermarket and several cafes, bars and restaurants, but a 10 minute walk to an elevated spot at the top of the village will take you to the train station from where you can easily reach one of the neighbouring resorts and a much larger range of facilities.

The bus service from Torremuelle, which leaves from beside the Playa Bonita Hotel, is also excellent and will take you into neighbouring Benalmadena and Fuengirola.

What is there to do and see in the area generally?

Torremuelle, at the same time as representing a very peaceful and relaxing place to stay, is also a great base from which to explore. The local transport facilities are such that you do not even need to hire a car to be able to reach a variety of towns, villages and local attractions.

Benalmadena is the closest of the neighbouring resorts and here you will find something to suit everybody’s taste. The town actually consists of three quite separate areas which are some kilometres distant but nowadays almost joined. The old town sits furthest inland and offers an excellent glimpse of traditional Andalucian life and the history of the area. The district of Arroyo de Miel which sits below the old town is where you can take part in a great range of sporting activities, as well as visiting the Tivoli World theme park.

Benalmadena Costa, meanwhile, is a superb coastal resort which offers one of the most splendid marinas in the world, lined with a good selection of excellent shops, bars and restaurants. The area has its own golf course and a huge garden, La Paloma Park, which spans over 200,000 square metres and overlooks the sea. It is here that you will also find the Selwo Marina, which makes for a fun-packed visit for children and adults alike to see the dolphins, sea lions and penguins.

Mijas is another town which is well worth a visit, and is another which is divided into three distinct localities. The old town is quite exquisite and is an ideal place to spend the day relaxing around the local cafes, bars and shops and admiring the beautiful Andalucian scenery.
